Morgan County Sheriff Deputies responded Monday to reports of a person being bitten by a snake in a secluded area off Herman Bailey Road in the Cotaco Creek area. Once there, deputies followed a woman’s calls for help to locate a 34-year-old female across a body of water. Deputies swam across the water to check on her and brought her back to shore where they were met by the rescue squad members and EMS personnel. That’s when things took a strange turn, however.
Deputies said the woman supplied them with false identification and it was determined she hadn’t been bitten by a snake. The woman, later identified as Chasey Rae Marion, 34, of Somerville, was trespassing, deputies said, and had outstanding warrants in Morgan and Cullman counties.
She was taken to Decatur General on her way to Morgan County Jail on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear - possession in the second degree.
