Good Move

Blogger Comments:  Folks, we believe having a spokesperson is a good move for the SO and a professional means for keeping the citizens informed.  Some very good professional moves are being put in place.  Making the warden and other leaders department heads give the employees ownership and responsibilities for their actions.  We believe we will have a sheriff who welcomes citizens in.  Someone folks can talk to when they have a loved one in jail.

  1. Apparently y’all missed the part where the PIO must have ten years upper management experience and his guy just happens to have 14. That’s the kind of stuff the blog use to catch and go “ really? “ about. His pal (Swafford) who the position is for will be starting out at much more pay than the deputies get. Taking care of buddies lists she who else use to do that??? Oh yea Ms Franklin did !

    1. So the guy is qualified and the Sheriff trusts him. Sounds like a good candidate. I trust Ron to make the right decisions. Having someone you trust to speak for the department seems important to me.

    2. Why was the only requirement 10 years experience in corporate management? Why did it not say experience in dealing with the media? Or experience in law enforcement or law enforcement matters and oper@tions? He should be able to hire who he wants but it is obvious this job requirement was built for one person and that is starting off on wrong foot. Just say this is who I am going to hire and move on don't build a bogus job requirement that is not even applicable to the position as a $pokes man for a law enforcement organization, what does corporate experience have to do with that???

  2. So a PIO is a manager? Of what?

    1. My understanding is that this position will also handle corporate relations to help generate Grant's and support from area companies....hence the corporate management background requirement.

    2. Information but I heard it's also setup to handle Corporate Relations to generate Grants and support from area businesses. That's why they wanted a corporate background.

    3. The news article said public information officer it didn’t say anything about being public relations also

    4. Well you should attend commission meetings and see the whole job description. They're open to the public. It's all in there.

  3. Swafford lost his job due to cutbacks, creates a company, gets paid by sheriff and State Rep to run their campaigns, and now has a job with the sheriff. Let's not forget he was referred to the ethics board when he was on the Hartselle School Board for trying to get his wife a job. He resigned from the board so it would go away .

    1. You should get all the facts. There were no ethics violations. He was fully cleared. His wife had taught for 11 years and has a Master's degree but had stayed home with the kids. When their last kid started preschool his wife signed up to be a substitute teacher....hardly what I would call trying to get her a job.
He was a victim of Hartselle's elitist politics. The ringleader didnt like being shown up by Swafford...he actual cared and would research issues before he voted on them. The Swaffords are good people....you'll see.

    2. You should get all of yours. He was cleared because he resigned from the board. Substitute teachers get paid just like full time so he would benefit once she got paid. Ethics violation. Has nothing to do with being good people. The job discription is designed for him. Good old boy network in progress

    3. Clearly you don't know much because resigning changed nothing. The process continued and was resolved in April of the following year. At which time he was cleared and the Ethics Commission found that there was no violation. But make it what you want to make it. His wife, a certified teacher with experience and a Masters degree, being a substitute did not violate any local or state policy.

  4. So how is this different than Ana doing this exact same thing for Berzett?

  5. Ana brought in all kind of people that were kiss-assy in her campaign while she was running against Bartlett that didn't know squat about law enforcement, but they paid big bucks to her campaign fund. Livingston, Berzette(s), etc, etc. All about "you help me win and you will be rewarded one way or the other. That is why you have all these idiots in supervisor positions while she is in office that are total imbeciles. Good Bye idiots next week.

    1. So my question remains how is this hire any different than hiring Berzett? This guy helped with his campaign so is it now a double standard?

    2. Berzette didn't know squat about law enforcement or correctional duties. He is nothing but a cowboy and wanna be at that. Swafford said his company works with campaign strategies, social media strategy and public relations. He has qualifications. Big difference.

    3. The only experience that Swafford has with campaign and public relations strategies is what he gained on Puckett's campaign.

    4. That's not true. He started his own company that has several clients and did PR/Strategy for a mayor, a city councilman and a State rep. Additionally, he also has a degree in Psychology/Communications.

    5. So his company is doing so great he wants to quit and become a pio?? Funny stuff

  6. And several current dishonest followers lied like hell to get ahead. Too stupid their leader was a fraud. As long as there Bill's were paid all is good

  7. Don't worry about the folks that told the truth and were destroyed and framed. As long as I have a paycheck I'm good. No huevros to stand up to corruption I'm calling BS

  8. Next Tuesday can't get here fast enough. We want her officially gone. Thank you Sheriff Puckett for making the sheriffs office a great place to work again. We know you will do it.

  9. The whistleblower has told the truth what makes you think she won’t do the same for Puckett.
