Blogger Comments: Folks, for some of us it has been 8 long hard years dealing with the likes of Sheriff Ana Franklin. From the moment she took office she had big plans to change the SO and change it she did. The whistleblower met Doug Key shortly after the sheriff terminated him. The whistleblower went to the hearings after hearing some of the actions Franklin had taken. It was clear early on that the sheriff had her favorites and unless you were part of the "in group" you didn't mean much to the sheriff as many deputies and SO employees past and present could attest to.
During the Key hearings, Franklin testified that she had an almost BS degree. It was an almost BS; it was 100% percent BS as in Bull****. Franklin could not recall any of the classes she had taken. Folks, when you go to school long enough to earn an "almost" Bachelor of Science Degree, you remember the classes. Love to see her transcript. The whistleblower doesn't have a college degree. Working your way through the ranks and taking every class you are offered to get ahead sticks in your memory. It isn't college but you dang sure remember where you were when you started and the level of success those classes afforded you.
The hearing was painful but the one thing the whistleblower came away with was the sheriff was arrogant. She did not like to be challenged, and if you got in her way she would (this is a joke) run over you with a bush hog, a bus, or (no joke) make you pay dearly for your actions. Our opinions over the years did not change much.
The more we worked on getting the word out to the citizens, who at the time believed the sheriff was nothing fighting crime and getting the job done, the more obstacles we ran into.
All being said. The sheriff may never spend time in jail for her actions and with misdemeanors, she feels that she won. Folks, nobody won. The sheriff likes to claim victory each time a misdemeanor comes her way. That isn't winning. The sheriff should feel embarrassed and humiliated.
What we have at hand is a new year, a new beginning, and a bright future. Sheriff-elect Ron Puckett has a great bunch of deputies despite everything the sheriff put them through. It's almost over folks. We believe Puckett to be a fair man and will run the sheriff's office in a manner that the employees will not feel humiliated, the inmates will eat food that is nutritious and healthy, and the SO office personnel and clerks will be able to relax and do their jobs without worry of retaliation.
We really haven't discussed the article in the Daily we encourage you to read it and go through the history of Sheriff Ana Franklin while in office. It's a miracle we all survived.
