Folks, we understand that Sheriff-Elect Puckett is in high gear and has big plans to bring the MCSO back up to standard. It isn't going to be easy because it has been ignored for eight years. It will take a lot of hard work and dedication with everybody on board to support the new sheriff. Puckett is not hot-headed and heavy-handed and folks will not feel as if they are walking on eggshells.
Folks should prove who you are by actions and instead of being spring butts. The new sheriff will figure out who's who in due time. Taking on corrective actions needed within the jail is going to be a major undertaking. The damages and shortfalls to the SO, employees, inmates, finance, equipment, education, and training did not happen overnight and it can't be fixed overnight. Being a true leader with a dedication to service and the mission is what is needed for healing to begin. You, we the citizens, and county government that is impacted by the SO will see major changes this year that will continue to grow under a man with Puckett's dedication to law enforcement.
It seems that for some politicians, sheriffs, and law enforcement that power goes to their head and they become to believe they are above the law.
