Jailers Sleeping Dogs Gone Wild

Folks, some of the employees are the Lawrence County Jail are concerned because of some employees sleeping on the job while dogs are said to be roaming free in a room next to the kitchen.  The dogs look pretty healthy.  They may eat better than the inmates.

  3. The health dept said they don't need to be in there near kitchen, so now jail gets a heads up when health dept is coming and they move peanut and his friend to the work release dormitory till they are gone. Work release building is a metal building separate from the jail. That is another blog of its own that will come later, work release building!!!

    1. This is in Lawrence County not Morgan, Sheriff Gene Mitchell running this cluster of an operation. He told Decatur daily he is making $80 thousand a year off inmate jail food, dont know what he is feeding prisoners but these two dogs are living high on the hog, especially "Peanut".

  5. Need to know facts before running your mouth. Dog isnt ever in the kitchen, he is fed dog food and may get a treat here and there. Everyone loves these dogs, they dont just roam the jail, they are usually outdoors, but sleep by back door not by the kitchen. Smdh.. if you dont know what your talking about, keep your mouth shut. And what the dogs are eating in the pic, may be left overs from staff or something someone was goung to throw away. Idiots, they dont eat the inmates food or eat better. Whoever posted this is ignorant and has nothing better to do but spread ignorance and then the more ignorant and uneducated fools takes this and runs with it..

    1. Thanks for confirming Sheriff! The health dept told you to keep them out of the jail but since you are a habitual law breaker, attaching your signs to stop signs and information signs with draw ties on state highways knowing it is against the law, putting your campaign signs on your county vehicle and unwillingness to be forthcoming with the voters it is not surprising that you would not comply with the health dept demands either, your above the rules. Wake your man up Sheriff!

    2. We know it is not inmates foods, they dont have any thing left for scraps from that diet you got them on sheriff. Thats enough food them dogs are eating to feed 6 prisoners.

    3. Those dogs do not roam the halls of the jail. They are never near or in the kitchen. And those dogs are much cleaner than some of the inmates grant you that! And inmates food is better than what some get, must be nice to lay up in bed all day, watch direct tv, not work. If theyre so misserable and being starved, meth heads come in and gain weight, and most other inmates do too. Know what your talking about before running your mouth. If anyone loses weight is probably because they trading off food for dip or favors. Its jail, but evidently some love it because they keep coming back. Just lay up in bed, sleep all day, eat, free! Watch Direct tv on flat screens in every block. Oh yeah, they have it so bad up there.. most of those fussing are probably not law abiding citizens, so if you dont like it.. its called straighten up your act, get a job, and stop living off the backs of tax payers!

  6. To be clear, we having nothing against dogs or animals, love them, have them at home. That is the point at home, Does the man not understand (at 76 years old) that this is a government building supposed to be ran as a professional organization, if you like the animals take them home. Answer me this, does the photos posted on this blog in the last two days represent a professionally ran law enforcement organization? HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Time to go a different direction with a new sheriff.

  7. If "Peanut" has been there 3 years, in dog years that's 21 years, he must be serving a life sentence. Free peanut, free peanut, free peanut!!! We demand peanut be released for time served or good behavior. Free peanut!

  8. How is peanut this morning, any ptsd from deputy page shooting him with a taser? Hope he is not dealing with his anx>ety with food. Everyone here at s.o. in panic because for first time gene is struggling in his campaign, a real possibility he will lose to Max Sanders.
