Ex-jailer arrested in smuggled cellphone investigation at Marshall County jail

Jonathan Mark Foster faces up to six months in jail if convicted.
A now-former Marshall County jailer faces a misdemeanor charge smuggling a cellphone to an inmate, authorities said.
Jonathan Mark Foster, 34, is charged with third-degree promoting prison contraband, Marshall County Sheriff Scott Walls announced this morning in a news release. Foster terminated last week.
Foster's arrest follows an investigation into a cellphone that was smuggled to an inmate, the sheriff said.
"During the investigation, investigators determined how the phone got inside and who brought it in," Walls said in a news release.
Foster was taken into custody Monday evening. He has been released from jail on $1,000 bail.
If convicted, Foster faces no more than six months in jail.
