All it takes...

Blogger Comments:  Is for all the folks to do the right thing.  The push to end sheriffs pocketing inmate food funds has been a long time coming.  The antiquated law is an eyesore to the state of Alabama and many of the sheriffs past and present have used the law to pad their pockets while inmates go hungry.  Sheriffs! The money must go to feed the inmates.  That is the right thing to do.  This is a huge step for Governor Ivey to take.  Standing up to lobbyists and the sheriff's of 67 counties takes moxie.  This governor has it.  Senator Author Orr has it.  Now let's see some more people in positions of power stand up to the plate.

Decatur Daily - Alabama governor: Jail food funds can't go into sheriffs' pockets

  1. Go Kay Ivy. I believe inmates should not eat steak and the works every night but I also believe the corrupt sheriffs in Alabama should not be building beachhouses and large estates in marshland while overlooking needs of their dept. Take care of deputies who are actually making you thieving thugs make you look good

    2. Also, majority of people in jail are waiting for a fair trial. Some of these folks might come out innocent in their trial. So, are we to believe that if they are innocent until proven guilty we should feed them something you wouldn't feed your dog? or starve them? What about this...if they are guilty of breaking the law and the top law enforcement official breaks the law by starving them and feeding them crap it's ok? It's essentially the old saying...two wrongs don't make a right. I have a bigger problem with the top LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL breaking the law!!

  2. Kay Ivey did not change the law. However, I believe she's making a huge stand and step toward something that quite clearly (based on past history) needs to be changed!!

  3. Ana you have the attention of the Governor of the state as well as every Sheriff in the state. Besides getting arrested what would you like to do with your fame before the news goes around the country? BTW Steenson says he needs some money on his books and will give you a good return on your books when he gets out. Steven may even add a dollar or two cause he will get out before you for his cooperation. He is smart enough to know it’s game over. To bad the drugs and alcohol keep you from realizing it. Also DUI in Lawrence county is just as illegal there as Morgan County. Why are you so delusional?

  5. Ana you seriously screwed over the inmates, your current employees, your past employees, the citizens of this county and the State of Alabama. You let down women all across the country as a miserable failure of a wanna be woman leader. The above people and many in the Government to include tried and true leader, Gov. Kay Ivey have now stood up against your treacherous and thieving was and made it clear for all to see. Why would you continue to cause the axe to be raised higher. It’s going to come down on all of you who will go to prison. Why make it harder? Why try to fight? Are you determined to do all you can to destroy those who stood to prove the truth and expose you and your little followers who also ruined their careers and will loose their freedom? Why stay? Is that little bit of money from commissary and phones? You bit off more than you could true and with the help of the Whistleblowers and everyone who helped them you were exposed and now being held accountable. Some are resigning and moving on. For some that won’t help them. Do the right thing for a change and realize you have been beat! Truth is known and your spin won’t work. Resign already! Your chance to do so is likely almost over.

    1. Our Sheriff hasn't been coming to work for several years. She's out of the office more than she's in it. Her favorite things to do: traveling (not work related,) sandy beaches, horse back riding, buying and upgrading property, and destroying the lives of those who call her out, etc. You can not tell me she wanted to be Sheriff to serve Morgan County. She wanted to serve herself! Not only is she greedy, but quite incompetent.
