Ana Will Not Be Moved, (just like a tree planted by the water)
From the Decatur Daily:
Morgan sheriff to remain in office despite legal issues
Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin plans to remain in office, despite her involvement in numerous civil lawsuits and what her lawyer described as an ongoing criminal investigation that will include the empaneling of a grand jury later this month.
“I am still working to do the duties of the office and will continue to do so,” Franklin said Wednesday. “My goal is and has always been to leave this office in a better place than when I took over. … I want to ensure that the new sheriff is in good shape and we have completed as many of the projects successfully as we can before he takes office.”
Asked if she will definitely complete her term, Franklin said via text, “Well I’m hoping I don’t get hit by a bus first.”

BLOGGER COMMENTS: If the sheriff would like "to leave this office in a better place", vacating it would be a solid first step in improving it. The farewell party will begin when she turns in the badge she tarnished. And as for the bus, around here it would have to be a school bus. Rather than endanger the chirrun, go to a large city such as, oh I don't know, Mobile maybe.
And further down in the story we get this gem about the destitute Ziaja:
Ziaja’s lawyer on Tuesday filed a motion to continue a pretrial hearing because “the parties are engaged in discussions which may result in a resolution of this matter. Additional time is needed to complete certain aspects of these negotiations.
Hmmm. Wonder which "parties", the bankruptcy court, the DA, the Feds? Copping a plea? Or perhaps throwing his former lover under that bus she's talking about? It's tempting to speculate. You first.
