Scott Owens - What he stands for

Folks, we encourage each of you to visit the candidates FB they set up for their run for sheriff.  Each candidate will be willing and available to discuss their goals, concerns, and how they will run the sheriffs office if elected.  We respect the position of sheriff even when we do not respect the person in the position.

Scott Owens sent his platform on who he is and what he stands for last night. It is imperative that we look at all the candidates and make wise decisions this time around.

We believe each candidate is willing to answer questions on the blog comments if you are interested in hearing what they have to say.  The best source for information is through each candidates FB communications.

  1. Scott I am with you. Ray met with Puckett and offered him the deal of a lifetime on the same day Puckett met with his good friend Ana to let her know he was running for sheriff. WTFO? Puckett mets with Ray and Ana on the same day. Puckett and Ray agree on a proposed salary. Who does Ray think he is? Can he control the votes in Morgan County? Ana laughed at Puckett and assured him she is running. Ana laughted at Puckett Saying good luck sucker. Who do we trust?

    1. So, you were either at the meeting, or you're just making stuff up. Which is it?

  2. I am for anyone who is actually honest...not steal...tell truth...if taxpayers asks for documents of where funds are spent they are readily available. I am for a Sheriff who will drive a piece of shit or similar like the rest of the force...not buying fancy trucks and vehicles for her chosen few and giving gas cards to non employees. Not taking employees on fancy trips...steak dinners...just to buy their love...get real Ana there are several after your job...because you took advantage of bank accounts and padded pockets of your few. This should disturb you as to the many running against you. If it were me I'd pack my bags...let the rest happen. Corruption is all you and your cronies have showed Morgan County. Disgrace

  3. Well, looks like I'm not voting for Scott Owens.

    1. Me neither. He's probably a really nice guy, but riding around Trinity on weekend nights couldn't possibly provide the experience to take on the task of being the chief LEO of a county.

  4. Sorry, Puckett was asked by Ray to run everyone knows this. Ray want control of every single part of Morgan Co. Puckett lost my vote. If the Deputies that cried so much for change and raises wants to ho running to Puckett, they're wearing blinders if they think they will get change or raises. Scott Owens wants to be a police Officer without actually doing what it takes to become one it appears to me. He couldn't take it having to work in the jail, so why does he think he should tell true Officers, Jailers how to do the job? SMH. I only see 2 honest contenders, Randy and Childers.

  5. Here's some facts. Not one of these candidates can give anybody a raise. The pay scale is set by the County Commission, and since those guys NEVER dissent, the pay scale is determined by Ray Long. If any candidate thinks Ray will ever give up that control, they're a fool.

    1. BUT how it could work is, the Sheriff looks over his entire budget and sees where maybe he can cut this and adjust that. Then he figures in the raise for his deputies and tries to keep his budget close to the same amount. Then he presents it to the county commission and they approve or disapprove. As long as the budget stays close to the same because of other cuts or adjustments, they more than likely would approve it. It takes work on the part of the Sheriff. Ana has NEVER tried to make cuts, adjust or add money from her other accounts to the budget to try to get a raise for them. She doesn't care about her employees except the minor few.

  6. Ray Long has complete control over the commission. 100% lock-step. Get in line or you're toast. This is why he's, allegedly, working so hard to oust the Sheriff... Control, power, greed.

  7. You can't enforce laws without being APOST certified.

    1. Technically wrong, but true. Good way to get a law suit not knowing the law, or APOST and make an arrest. Also you need your head examined to vote for a non certified Officer for Sheriff. Like taking a homless guy that quit school in 5th grade, sticking him over heart surgery.
