Reading the comments posted on Blake Robinson, it is obvious that there are a lot of differing opinions in regards to his conduct and behavior. Folks, we have been very hard on Sheriff Ana Franklin and her followers. We can only hope that the folks that we have blogged about can find their way across the river. We work with a lot of people who were true believers in Sheriff Franklin and can pinpoint when they believe things began to change in how she was running the sheriff's office. Many say that 2013 was a pivotal turn in her service. Some noticed the conduct and behavior long before 2013 but most are steadfast that in 2013 there was a major change in the sheriff. Either way, a lot of people were fooled or offered special perks for being the sheriff's friend.
Our hope is that Blake Robinson is ready and prepared to clean up his part of this mess for himself and his sweet little family. Nobody's family deserves the hardships that some of these folks have placed their families in. I can hear the comments now screaming that we want justice. So do I. Sure, they all knew better. But it's not our job to determine any punishment they may receive for their part in the fraud, waste, and abuse. Our job is to report it and hope that the authorities start with the leader of the pack.
Reading the blog it is evident that someone believes that an individual took money from the sheriff's office to go on holiday. From what I understand the person admitted that they had taken or borrowed money from the sheriff's office and repaid the money. Why is it alright for Sheriff Franklin to steal money that she never paid back to the MCSO inmate fund yet you want to badger a person that actually admitted what the did and paid the money back? The money that Franklin took and claimed to pay back is and/or was in Traditions Bank in the sheriff's name. It is very hard to admit that you made a mistake. It is honorable to take responsibility for that mistake and correct the wrong. We will have to wait and see how many of the sheriff's sidekicks are honorable in the end.
We will be the first to admit that we have come down hard on our law enforcement officers, corrections officers, ABC agents, the command group, and the jail administrator. We believe their actions have had a major impact on the citizens of this county, the employees, and yes the inmates. We are all human and we all make mistakes. We continue making those mistakes until we learn our lessons and then our Lord lifts that burden and we face another lesson. It is deeply saddening that some of these folks have sunken so far down that by crossing the line they will have a very hard battle ahead of them. They are not alone in this battle; it affects the entire county as-well-as their families. We would be willing to talk to Blake but he doesn't need to talk to us. He needs to take a trip across the river. No matter what he may be facing it is better to face it with self-reporting vice standing his ground with Sheriff Franklin. We believe Sheriff Franklin is walking on quicksand. Stop walking with her.
There will be a lot of work in the future to bring the sheriff's office back to an operational state. We should congratulate the hard-working men and women who have held the sheriff's office together using a band-aid for a gaping wound. These folks should be commended for their hard work. Hopefully, we will elect a sheriff who is a competent professional, a leader who is willing to get in the trenches with the deputies, provide adequate equipment and training.
