Comments to WZDZ RocketCityNow.com Article on the Morgan County Budget

Blogger Comments:  Well, here we go again.  Sheriff Ana Franklin opens her mouth and the lies just fly.  Franklin tells WZDX that no grants have been available for seven years.  They sure were available in 2016.  Please see the excerpts from the Department of Justice (DOJ) updated 2016.  The key is having personnel smart enough to write the grant requirements up for your agency.  Nothing against Ron Livingston but he ain't it.  Writing grants requires a lot of research, maybe even travel, and classes which are all available.  If Franklin had been the sheriff she should have been instead putting on all the dog and pony shows and building her house and purchasing her property in Saraland at our expense this would not be happening right now.  Franklin paid cash for all of the expenses at Saraland.  Wonder how she did that?  In addition, Franklin spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on overtime for Bones Wilson, Blake Robinson, and Ron Livingston.  We have several folks that talk to us that say these people did not work a huge portion of the overtime.

Grants approved 2016 are set aside for 2017.  It is too late for Franklin to apply for grants during the 2017 fiscal year, since the fiscal year 2018 begins October 1, 2017.  However, if Sheriff Franklin can figure out how to do a little research before she opens her mouth and puts out fake news she can begin the tedious process of finding resources Fiscal year 2019.

The DOJ approved $102,000.000.00 dollars for law enforcement in 2016.  If Franklin has one thing in her favor it is the gift of gab.  She has Alabama Sheriff's Association and the National Sheriff's Association fooled.  Heck, she had the citizens of Morgan County fooled for six years.  You would think that as much as Franklin likes travel she would have gone to training and/or scheduled time with others who are highly skilled in writing grants.

Morgan County budget cuts causing controversy

  1. Better go back and read those grant announcements a little more carefully and you will find that other than the matching grant for new bullet proof vest there were very few grants available and those grants were suitable for other activities rather than running a drug task force. You can't take a Victims of Crime grant and apply it for running you office or task force.

    1. She has resources...she was too busy doing other things traveling, going out to fancy dinners...taking care of her besties with lavish vehicles and gas cards...she took care of everyone except the few honest good deputies left. The Grant money was absolutely there. She was too busy investing prisoner food funds into convicted felons car lots. Wonder how the IRS is gonna handle that one. I hear this mansion in Sarahland is true...paid in cash. Commissioners should rheem her ass and be calling the Feds for help.

    2. This situation is sad. A huge County...a Corrupt Sheriff sucking funds from the County Commission to take care of her mess. She has misappropriated funds since the day she took office. Bones I will never question you on your time...I know you are lazy as hell and wont work more than 40...it's ok Ill pay you whatever...just cover my ass...we are fixing to get rich.

  2. There were grants for 2015 I know for a fact. So that there were no grants available for 6 years is a flat out lie. I have a previous employee that have me a thumb drive with all the info. Lies lies and more lies. She should just not talk at all, this would be more intelligent, or get a better attorney to do it for you. ....

  3. Need Information ASAP: Does anyone know who I can contact about getting my seized guns back from the Morgan County Drug Task Force. I had an attorney, we did go to court and the judge granted me my seized vehicle back and my guns. Well it took a year almost to get the vehicle back, but I have yet to receive the guns. I have already won the case on the seized property but can't get them. What else is there to do.
