Ana got her gun

Blogger Comments:  Ana got her gun alright and the county has suffered ever since.  It is time for Morgan County to make the change.  We all had high hopes with the first female sheriff of Morgan County who at the time claimed to be humbled by the outpour of support.  What happened to that alleged humility?

      • Ana Franklin kept the momentum she had during the primary election to become Morgan County’s first female sheriff in Tuesday’s general election.
Franklin defeated Tom Little 61.3 percent or 23,916 votes to 38.4 percent, or 14,973 votes according to complete, unofficial vote totals.
She celebrated with family, friends and supporters at the Elks Lodge in Decatur.

        ‘On top of the world’

“I feel on top of the world,” Franklin said. I am very humble and I just appreciate everybody’s support and prayers and all the work they put in my campaign. I appreciate Tom for running a good race.”
Franklin, 46, said she believed she would win.
“I felt it today (Tuesday) especially,” she said. “We had lots of support we saw from voters going to vote and giving us thumbs up. We worked so hard and we were hopeful.”
Little said he called and congratulated Franklin.
“Obviously, the people have spoken and I wish her well,” said Little. “I thank all the people who supported me in my campaign and the people who I came in contact with on the campaign trail.”
This is Little’s second bid for sheriff. He ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Greg Bartlett in 2006.
Little said he’s not certain what caused his defeat but he speculates a Republican sweep in the county and state played a role.
“I never say never, but I will only run again after much prayer,” Little said.
Franklin defeated Bartlett in a primary runoff in July. Bartlett, who served two terms, will leave office in January and Franklin will become sheriff.
