Blogger Comments: Lindon Lovett, we agree with you in regards to the comment that extra food monies be donated vice taking the money for personal gain. Unfortunately, as we can all see, there should not have been leftover food funds. The inmates in the Morgan County Jail have not been receiving enough food to even sustain their body weight. Unless someone is seriously ill there is no reason why any inmate in the Morgan County Jails should have lost almost half of his body weight. There is no reason why a woman who is suffering from cancer and bleeding severely to be told she does not need medical care, that she knows what to do when the bleeding starts. Human compassion goes a long way towards doing the right thing. One person whom we know and trust was told by Larry Berzett while interviewing for a position in the kitchen that they are just inmates. That's right Larry, they are just inmates. They are inmates with rights. Maybe Larry Berzett should look up some of the Human Rights Laws so he will better understand how to treat people humanely. Who do we have to blame for the embarrassment we are suffering in Morgan County, Alabama? Not the whistleblowers. We blame the High Sheriff. Sheriff Ana Franklin for dereliction of duty, fraud, waste and abuse, failure to follow a Judge's orders, neglecting her employees, lack of equipment for the road deputies, shorting the employees of labor they worked, and much more. There are a lot of things that need to be corrected in the Morgan County Jail above and beyond the inmate food funds. However, the nutritional meals, health care, adequate staff to run the jail, and safety concerns for the employees and the inmates must come first.
