Ana Franklin is making history as the first woman to run for sheriff of Morgan County.
When will Ana become the first female Sheriff in history to be impeached or otherwise removed from office in the history of the United States?
Franklin, 45, is running for the Republican nomination against two-term incumbent Greg Bartlett and contender Noel Mayfield, a former Decatur police officer.
Franklin, now 51 and trying desperately to continue to deceive everyone as she struggles to stay in office, even when she is in South Alabama or abroad to who knows where in the country on the tax payers' dime.
Franklin was an investigator for the sheriff's office before retiring in December when she went into business buying Family Fitness Center.
Ana demanded: make me an LT or I quit. She was not promoted as she demanded.
Franklin said that, if elected, she would run a transparent sheriff's office.
Every open record request by anyone we are aware of has been denied by Ana! There is nothing transparent about the Sheriff's Office inside or out. She denies any and all intrusions (as she sees it) into the Sheriff's Office or its funds by anyone. The offices upstairs are locked so not even Deputies can get in. Orders for all emails by the Sheriff's Office to be erased have gone out. There has been no accountability for the funds being squandered. Overtime pay only for those special employees closest to her. Those employees get more in overtime alone than the other employees get in all of their pay by far.
"I think the sheriff's office is probably one of the biggest responsibilities there is in Morgan County," Franklin said. "There are so many opportunities to do good in that office. We need to look at the things that are good and keep them, and we need to look at things that are not and change those."
Ana turned her office into and allowed several other employees to become, the most corrupt many have ever seen in the Morgan County Sheriffs Office. How many people have lost their careers to Ana? How many people of color or other minority still remain in any position of power at all at the Sheriff's Office?
How many lawsuits have been filed and paid off under this administration? How many inmates have suffered from mistreatment and neglect even to the point of death?
Franklin said sheriff's office financial records for such funds as the pistol permit and inmate food would be available for citizen inspection if she were elected.
This was a lie! And if you ask now, she will turn down any such request stating these funds are her own personal funds!
"I'll work hard and I will do it with integrity," she said.
Ana, integrity is about what you would do when you think no one else is watching. What do you think integrity is? Hiding, stealing. scamming, lying, or manipulating? Is integrity to you unlawful breaking and entering, conspiracy, keylogger devices, or criminal coercion? What about kick-backs through AT&T? Is integrity you and Barney Lovelace threatening pending arrest or criminal investigation into those who bring to light the corruption in an attempt to hold you accountable?
Ana Franklin said she would immediately apply for grants to help pay for putting resource officers in the county's school system.
Ana, what grants did you or anyone in the Sheriffs Office get while you held the title of Sheriff? Furthermore, of the SROs, how many were well trained and experienced and had experience working as a law enforcement officer in Morgan County? How many completed FTO programs in this county to ensure they were up to standards?
"Community awareness through education is critical," she said. "We don't have any resource officers in our county schools and there are grants that can be obtained to put them there. I would get the funding because it's needed."
We agree with this statement but never truly came to pass, did it? What grants have been obtained by this administration? Of all these people brought in by Ana, which of them have had the ability to write or obtain grants?
In addition to working at the sheriff's office, Franklin also was a volunteer in Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakley's office and a volunteer and founding member of the North Alabama Search Dog Association.
"(Blakely) told me there was no bigger responsibility than to be a law enforcement officer, and that's what I believe," she said.
If you believe this, why did you not stand behind your Law Enforcement Officers and the citizens you were supposed to serve? You did well at padding the pockets of those you choose and to run around the country acting like a wanna-be rodeo queen. But as a Sheriff or a Law Enforcement Officer, not so much!
In the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Franklin was lead investigator for the sex offenders unit.
Not hard to be lead when at the time you were the only sworn person specifically assigned to that task.
She was named the 2007 Morgan County Law Enforcement Officer of the year because she had the highest number of arrests in the county.
And of this arrest, how many were paper arrests where you never left your desk?
She was the first woman assigned to the county's drug task force and worked vice and narcotics, where she saw first-hand the dangers of crystal meth.
"I am the only candidate who is certified in meth labs, and I made hundreds of meth arrests," she said. "I didn't come after everything was over. I suited up and was one of the first to go through the doors, pulling samples."
She told The Decatur Daily that law enforcement is more than making arrests.
What more did Ana personally do as Sheriff in her months of absences and running around with new boyfriends in South Alabama playing Rodeo Queen and padding pockets with Sheriff's Office funds? Sure she has a phone and can give statements to the media but especially in her second term how many statements were given from Orange Beach or other parts of the country while she had no knowledge of the work done to make the arrest until it was media time?
"Sure, we want to arrest those who break the law, but we also need to do prevention through educational sources," she said. "That's why I feel we should start when they're young in school teaching them about meth and crime."
Ana says she "feels" about a lot of things. We constantly hear her say "I feel" when she is grandstanding to the media. But other than padding her pockets, lying to the public or to other officials, spinning the truth as she tries to deceive, investing in and squandering county assets into Title Marts, does anyone know how if there's anything left to feel? Let's compare what she "feels" with what she says and then again compare it to what she actually does.
