Folks, more of the MCSO employees are planning their departure from the MCSO. Employees can only take so much.
According to the early morning news Morgan County is having a memorial for all fallen officers. It is with great sadness that we reflect back on all of the good men and women who have lost their lives while protecting the citizens of this country.
With the changing world that we live in today we must focus on all aspects of the threat, from ISIS and suicide bombers to street gangs and meth-heads. Vigilance is required as well as moral and political support but our thin blue line needs more.
We should and we must do everything within our power as a nation, metropolitan area, city, town, and county to ensure that our officers have the most up to date equipment, gear, training, education, lapel, and dash cameras possible to meet the challenges they face on a daily basis.
We need strong leadership to manage and oversee the day-to-day operation of the law enforcement workforce. A leadership that will be open, honest, and transparent. A good steward of the budget and other resources entrusted to them. A leader who will not accept or endorse corruption or misconduct on their watch.
Folks, I guess what I am saying is that at least in Morgan County, Alabama our leadership does not have the backs of the MCSO workforce. Our deputies are over worked, under paid, and they have been cheated out of hard earned dollars due to payroll errors and misconduct.
A true leader is a leader in every sense of the word. A true leader will lead by example.
