Back to Governor Bentley, It sounds like Bentley is taking lessons from Bill Clinton. On Jan. 26, 1998—15 years ago Saturday—Bill Clinton famously told the nation, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky".
If a person is in a position of power and it is determined that they are abusing that power, they should suffer the consequences. Since Luther Strange, Governor Bentley, and folks like the ex-ALEA Director Collier have been in power a lot of politicians have skated.
What causes corruption. In the majority of the cases it is MONEY. The money however, is not the root of all evil. It is the people who chose to abuse their power.
The money didn't make them do the crime. Most of them were corrupt before being sworn into office.
As with the sheriff of Morgan County, once elected they began to surround themselves with people they trust. Weeding out all of those who represent honesty, integrity, and ethics. It isn't rocket science. What is one of the first things Franklin did upon being sworn in? Montgomery, here I come. Getting to know the elite and getting appointed to committees.
We know of an Ethics Violation that was submitted to the Ethics Committee. The Ethics Committee conducted their investigation, staffed the complaint to the State Attorney General and nearly two years later, nothing has been done.
We do know that Franklin was briefing the information given to the State Attorney General's Office in open staff call. Gee! I wonder how that could happen.
Look at the corruption going on in the State right now. We rest our case. Oh! but these latest events with the Title Mart sagas may not be heard by the same ears.
