DECATUR, Alabama — A Morgan County grand jury has indicted a Hartselle man on a murder charge in the death of his wife.
Authorities say Hartselle police arrested 52-year-old Richard Alan Stickles on Tuesday.
Police say Stickles' wife, Gayla, was a passenger on his motorcycle last July 23 when they collided with a sport utility vehicle on U.S. 31.
Police say they learned that Stickles had been drinking when he attempted to pass the SUV. The district attorney's office says Stickles' blood-alcohol level reportedly was .206 percent. The legal limit in Alabama is .08 percent.
Officials at the Morgan County jail say Stickles was released on $10,000 bail.
